Custom Software Solutions for Web, Mobile and PC
Spud Software has created over 1,000 software solutions for web, mobile and PC, and has tens of thousands of users with the various software’s we’ve written over the last 20 years. We have developed solutions for all industries and specialize in fast, affordable solutions, custom to each client’s needs.
It is important to us to respect our clients wishes to not go into too much detail in regard to projects we have done for them, but we can share that we have worked with lots of Fortune 500 companies and hundreds of others, most of whom are still clients to this day. We make sure to spoil our clients to the point that not only do they rely on us, but they feel like we are a part of their team and their success.
If you have an internal IT development team that is overbooked or no IT resources at all, we can help. If your company is going through a growth spurt and the current way of doing business isn't cutting it, we can help. Whether you're expanding locations, increasing staff or client base, launching a new product/service, consolidating systems, and/or need existing systems to communicate, we have the experience to make it happen. If you are looking for ways to streamline operations, including system integrations, replacing old software, eliminating duplicate data entry, eliminating paper processes or need to better track production/staff and hold people accountable, we can create a solution that fits your needs. If you have a project where the wheels are falling off the cart and you need someone to come in and get it back on track and properly completed, we can get it done for you.
Companies come to Spud for help creating RFQ's and/or budgetary proposals to be submitted for bid consideration or used in-house for putting together company plans and budgets. Depending on your needs, a project can be scoped at a high level quickly (which is similar to our Define process), or it can be detailed to the point that any software company should be able to take the documentation and develop a solution (similar to our design process). Whether Spud is developing the end solution or not, we follow the same process as if we were doing the development from beginning to end.
Because Spud takes such pride in the projects we take on, we feel it is important to make sure it's clear WHO is responsible for the delivery of the project. Because there may be multiple players involved in a project, it is important to define who is responsible for the deliverables right out of the gate. If everyone is in charge, no one is in charge, and to properly complete a project on time and within budget, someone needs to run the show. Spud prefers to take on that responsibility. In short, we play well with others. We have the experience to get things done and motivate the rest of the team to stay on task and meet their milestones. We excel at bringing people together and realize that if anyone fails along the way, we all fail. At the same time, when a project succeeds, we have ALL succeeded.
We will be your business advisor and partner in defining your processes. When you come to us with a problem, we are excited to work with you to find the best solution based on your situation, timing requirements and budget. We are passionate about helping you make the completion of the project a reality. We do not just write your software, we help you define your software and improve your processes. Our approach to defining and designing software allows us to assist you in working through your processes to make them the best they can be. Our 20 years of experience with companies across diverse industries gives us a distinct advantage. We share our experiences with our clients to help them better understand their own operations through documenting and streamlining internal systems/processes. Because we have been exposed to such different industries, we are very well-rounded and we have exposure to a lot of different ways of doing things. We help our clients by passing those experiences on to them to help them better understand their operations.
When Does a Custom Software Program Make Sense?
Some ideas just don’t fit inside a box. Make no mistake, we know there are great software products sold as licenses or Software as a Service (Saas). For some small businesses without unique needs, prepackaged software is a no-brainer. The cost is right and the software is good enough to get most things done.
During our Define phase, if we think you could get away with a more cost-effective existing packaged solution, we will point you in the right direction. That said, as your company grows, if your business processes aren’t cookie cutter or if you have multiple systems that need to communicate, a custom software solution may just make the most sense.
Custom is just what it sounds like: designed to your specifications. The functionality and flow of the software fits your business, your clients, your staff and you. Rolling out a custom software package that is designed to fit your business processes is easier and smoother than a boxed solution that does most of what you need, but has a number of “workarounds” to get things done.
Another benefit of developing your own software is getting your people involved and vested in the solution. With them taking ownership and feeling part of the solution the software will be more successful when launched and be better designed to help the team and entire company.
