When is it OK to call your team that is working remote?

Here is the situation: You have people working in the office, working remotely, working at all different times of the day and you want to talk with them.  How do you know if it is OK to call them?

The options:

  1. Call them whenever you want regardless of the time of day.
  2. Don’t call them and send an email hoping they are going to check it sometime today and get back to you.
  3. Look at your software that tracks who is currently working, if they are in a meeting, if they are gone for the day or they are simply taking a short break.  With everyone trying to take care of their home life plus get in their hours each week, managers need to be more resourceful at knowing who is working and respect their teams personal time.  A simple software can allow you to check their availability and if they are gone for the day it will send a quick email, if they are taking a short break send them a text to call you when they get back to work or if they are working provide a quick button to call them on your cell. 

Conclusion: Times are crazier than ever and we need to be patient with our team, but still be productive.  A good software package can help with both.
