Tabular Reports with tons of columns and rows of data can be useful, but can end up being like white noise. That is why at Spud we recommend dashboard reports that are clickable to the tabular reports for more detail, if needed. The “if needed” part is the big difference. A powerful, well designed dashboard report will be able to tell you if you need to look deeper or if everything is where it needs to be in relation to goals, KPIs and SLAs.

In summary, if you are looking at reports daily or even weekly we recommend making those reports into summarized dashboards that will tell you if you need to drill down to the details, because even a nicely color coded tabular report that needs to be reviewed every day can quickly become ignored.
